SQA Results 2016

Dear Parents and Carers

Once again we were delighted with the performance of our students in this summer’s SQA examinations and I would like to share some of the highlights with you.

Our S4 students did particularly well. They coped admirably with the assessment demands of their courses throughout the year to produce an excellent set of results. 49% of our S4 achieved five or more National 5 qualifications and 84% of the year group achieved five National 4 awards or better. In S5 and S6, our students faced the challenge of building on their previous successes and achieving another set of great results this year. They managed to do this and in S5 an outstanding number of individual students gained five Highers at grade A. In our S6 almost half left school with three Highers or better and almost one third left school with five Highers or better.

We had an unprecedented number of award winners at our Academic Achievement Award Ceremony earlier in the month at which we presented our Broughton Dux award this year to our joint recipients, Harmony Rose-Bremner and Flora Reid.

Throughout the examination period, the attendance and behaviour of our candidates was exemplary and our invigilation team commended the positive attitude, manners and effort made by all candidates.

We are very proud of the achievements of our students and we would like to say congratulations and well done to everyone!

Once again we have had a very busy start to our new session and our students have returned to school with a positive attitude, keen to build on their achievements. This attitude combined with hard work will only lead to success!

Students in S4, 5 and 6 are in the process of discussing and setting their targets for the year with their class teachers. I’m sure they will be aiming high. These targets will be reviewed regularly throughout the year and shared with you in the reports.

We appreciate the continued support of parents and carers and we look forward to seeing you at Parents’ evenings to discuss your child’s progress.

We would like to wish all of our students the very best of luck for the coming year.
