Ernst & Young Internship

Congratulations and very well done to Daniel McIvor and Brandon McFarlane.  Both S5 students have been successful in gaining a place on the Ernst and Young school ‘Internship’.  This will take place at the end of June.

Ella goes to Oxford

Ella Duffy has gained a place on a UNIQ summer school at Oxford University from 7-12 July.

There were over 4400 applications for 850 places!   She is thinking about going to Oxford University to study Geography so this should really help her application.  Very well done Ella!  

Under 13s Cup Success

Broughton High won the Under 13 Scottish Cup on Wednesday 22 May. They played against a very strong and skilful Grange Academy team who had scored 46 goals in the seven rounds to get to the final.

EMS on Classics Unwrapped

A few things connected to City of Edinburgh Music School will feature in next week’s Classics Unwrapped programme on BBC Radio Scotland.

As entry is now open for BBC Scotland’s Young Trad musician, they will mention this and play a bit of MacKay's Memoirs to go with it…hopefully illustrating the possibility of combining pipes with strings in a slightly ‘classical’ context.

William Bosi EYC

William Bosi was 2nd at a European Youth Cup at the weekend. This is his first international podium, so his family and all at Broughton are very proud of him.

Hansine Marshall

Hansine Marshall, 2S1, has been selected for the basketballscotland U14 Girls team, to compete in the FIBA Summer Slam tournament in Edinburgh from 7-9 June.  Well done and good luck!

Film & Casting Success

Film and TV casting opportunities which the drama dept. has arranged this year:

M.I. High, Les Miserables, Oliver, 2 screen plays and a feature film and a Scottish Police film on racism called Same Difference, which will go out to all schools in Scotland, featuring 2 of our pupils Hamzah Yusuf and Reuben Gourlay.
