Teen Titles - October 2013 update

The following students had reviews published in the latest edition of Teen Titles which has just arrived in the library.

Teen Titles features honest reviews of the latest books of teenagers. Pop into the library to have a look for yourself.

House Music Competition 2013

The 2013 House Music Competition was, as ever, a huge success with an amazing array of talent on offer.  

This year's competition was judged by Forth One's Mark Martin, and Singer/Songwriter, Carrie Mac, who is also a Broughton High former pupil.   Compere for the evening was Maths teacher, Michael O'Regan.

Results were as follows:

Junior Solo:

  • 1st – Saskia Eng
  • 2nd – Harmony Rose-Bremner
  • 3rd – Morven Warren-McArdle

Junior Group:

  • 1st – Sarah Malcolm & Magnus Westwell
  • 2nd – Eve McClelland & Max Lamprecht
  • 3rd -  Lucie Duffy & Amelia Brown

Senior Solo:

  • 1st – Alex Small
  • 2nd – Jack Knowles
  • 3rd – Brian Hughes

Senior Duets:

  • 1st – Amy Milner & Lia Collins
  • 2nd – Cara Targett-Ness & Isabella Webster
  • 3rd – Taylor Doig & Lauren Gaff

Senior Groups:

Senior Rap Battle:

OVERALL WINNING HOUSE:

Macmillan Coffee Morning Success

The Coffee Morning held at Broughton raised £103.85 for Macmillan Cancer.  Thank you for those who attended or supported the students by buying raffle tickets, donating prizes or letting them out of class to set up/clean up. 

The students involved were:  Daniel Cormack, Liam Taylor, Dylan Miller, Gemaine Lambe, Eric Vasakula and Ryan Su.

 

Broughton lifts STEM Faraday Challenge trophy!

Broughton High School team wins STEM Faraday Challenge held at Trinity Academy on 24 September 2013.  

Broughton student wins National music award!

Magnus Westwell succeeds in gaining an award from Awards for Young Musicians.  Read more here.

Broughton students donate to FACE Fund

Earlier this year, Broughton students raised £3000 to the FACE (Fight Against Cancer Edinburgh) Fund while taking part in the Youth & Philanthropy Inititative (YPI) programme.   See the acknowledgement from FACE here.
