Filming in Inverleith Park - Wednesday 3rd November

Due to filming taking place in Inverleith Park there will be some disruption in the streets surrounding the school from 18:30 on the 2nd of November to 23:00 on the 3rd November, (next Tuesday/Wednesday).

Please allow extra time for dropping off/collecting your child on the 3rd of November.

Carrington Road between East Fettes Avenue and Fettes Avenue will be closed from 18.30 on Tuesday 2nd November until 23.00 on Wednesday 3rd November to enable the company to park their support vehicles. The road in this area will be fenced off with heras fencing but the pavement will remain open to pedestrians.

In addition to this they will be suspending a large stretch of the pay and display bays on the east side (Inverleith Park side) and a small stretch on the west side of East Fettes Avenue for parking their equipment vehicles.

The film company also mentioned that access to Inverleith Park, more specifically the playing fields and the area around the pond will be restricted on the 3rd November to allow for filming. If your child usually goes to Stockbridge at lunch time via this route can you remind them to take an alternative route. If they do try to access the park they will most likely be turned back.

Service Entrance to School

The introduction of double yellow lines at the main entrance to the school has been very welcome, as it keeps school users much safer at the peak times of the day. Unfortunately we have seen an increase in unidentified cars parking on the school entrance road. This increases risk to students who are using different entrances into the building to reduce mixing.

From Monday 10th May we are closing the service entrance to the school grounds to any vehicles apart from authorised deliveries and collections. We ask all members of the community to please respect this.

Covid and the Scottish Climate

One of our Covid mitigation measures is for students to spend their break and lunch times outdoors. Being outdoors is significantly safer, particularly as young people will want to socialise and talk to each other in their free time.

We know it is now May. We know it should be warmer and drier. But it isn’t. Please therefore make sure that your child comes to school wearing appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather until such time as summer properly arrives.

Installation of pedestrian refuge island/crossing East Fettes Avenue - potential disruption

You will be pleased to hear that the long awaited crossing and double yellow lines are currently being installed on East Fettes Avenue at the entrance to our school. The works should be completed before our pupils return on 20th April, (although we have been advised that they may overrun by a few days).   The works once complete will make this area much safer for our pupils and school community.

For safety reasons, while the work is ongoing, there is no access to the staff carpark and the pedestrian access gate on East Fettes Avenue is closed.  If your child normally uses this access point please make sure they allow some additional time at the beginning of the day to ensure they arrive at school on time.

Thanks for your assistance.
