The Enterprising Maths Lothian competition involved schools from all around Edinburgh, with 18 teams competing, on Friday 24 October.

Each team took part in four rounds:  Team, Speed, Swiss, and Relay.  In each round students worked together in their team, or individually, or in pairs.  Broughton did consistently well in the first three rounds.  The Relay round was handicapped—the higher your overall score, the further away you were from the questions.  When our team came in for the relay, they were at the back of the hall, so they knew they’d scored well, and there was everything to play for.  They worked really hard, and when the winners were announced, they were in first place!

They are now invited to the National final in November in Glasgow.
