Numeracy is incorporated across the curriculum at Broughton High School. It is the ability to understand, use and apply numbers, quantitative information and reasoning in real-life situations, such as managing personal finances, understanding data or navigating a map.
How to talk about numeracy with your child
Discuss the importance of reasoning and critical thinking within numeracy. This helps assess information and solve problems, rather than just perform calculations. Encourage a positive attitude towards numeracy by integrating it into daily activities like cooking, shopping and budgeting.

When do we need to leave if you want to be there at this time?
Have you planned how you can afford those new trainers?
How much paint do we need to decorate this room?
To improve your child’s numeracy skills, encourage practice through games, puzzles and real-world applications. Here are some suggested digital resources to get you started.
