Primary 7 Transition can be both an exciting time for young people but also a time of uncertainty.
Here at Broughton High School we aim to make the Transition process as smooth as possible for all young people who will be joining us. To that end we work closely with our primary colleagues both in our cluster primary schools (Ferryhill, Flora Stevenson’s, Granton and Stockbridge) across the city and beyond.
To support students through P7 Transition one Pupil Support Leader (PSL/’Guidance’) and one Support for Learning (SfL) staff member are the designated links for each primary school. Identified staff will attend P7 Child Planning Meetings as appropriate. Our Curriculum Leader Wellbeing Hub & Enhanced Support Provision also liaises with primary schools, working closely with link Educational Psychologists and other agencies.

In summary please remind pupils that they should:
- Keep the iPad up to date via Settings>General>Software Update
- Bring it every day charged and ready to use
- Look after the iPad – there are financial consequences for breakage and loss.
- Any problems with the iPad – take it to Mr Cooke in the BIT Base, 1st Floor

S1 Application Information
If you live within the Broughton High School catchment area your child will be automatically allocated a place in the school. If you do not live in the catchment area your child will be allocated a place at their catchment school. If you would like to apply for a place at Broughton High School, a Non-Catchment Placing Request should be submitted.
Unfortunately, schools cannot process P7 placing requests into S1 as these will be dealt with centrally by Grants, Awards and Placements until August of the session. Full details on placing in schools can be found in the ‘Placing in Schools‘ booklet.
