Qualifications Scotland Results Day 2026
Our exams season is over for this year and we now look forward to results day on 4 August. We had excellent attendance during the exams and our Senior Phase students were a credit to themselves and to the school.
I would like to provide some important information regarding the appeals process this year.
How the appeals service works
When an appeal is submitted, a senior marker reviews all externally marked question papers and assignments. They check that:
- the marks awarded are in line with the marking standards and instructions agreed at the markers’ briefing.
- all parts of the Qualifications Scotland assessments have been marked.
- the marks given for each answer have been added up correctly.
- the correct result has been entered into our exam system.
Learners can use the ‘Learner Direct Service’ to submit an appeal themselves. However, I would advise that anyone considering an appeal should contact the school in the first instance so they can make an informed decision. Learners must be aware that their grade can go down, as well as up, as a result of an appeal.
Key facts about the service
Priority appeals — This service is for learners who need a result to secure a university or college place, a job, or a training programme.
Standard appeals — This service is for learners whose results are not needed for entry into university or college, employment, or training.
The service will open on results day, Tuesday 4th August at 9 am, and the learner direct submission deadlines are:
- Tuesday 11 August at 11.59 pm for priority appeals
- Tuesday 25 August at 11.59 pm for all other appeals
If you appeal through your school, college or training provider, the deadlines are:
- Thursday 20 August at 5 pm for priority appeals
- Friday 28 August at 5 pm for all other appeals
