State Street Visit – S2
On Wednesday the 26th of October we visited State Street to take part in an event organised by Young Enterprise.
In the morning we had to work in groups to make model towers made from plastic cups, balloons and lots and lots of sticky tape. We got started quickly and bought all the other things needed to build our first set of three towers. It was fun working together to make sure the towers were the right height and the same quality. Once we finished each set we had to go to the “shop” to try and sell our towers. We finished first and thought we were sure winners but never realised until too late that you got more money if you changed your design for each set and you got more if you negotiated with the buyers. We did however manage to make the tallest tower.
In the afternoon we had to think of a brand new product and pitch it to the rest of the class. Along with the pitch we created adverts and some groups created jingles for their products. There were lots of great ideas such as Hi tops with memory foam, multi-functional glasses, a flying bed and our idea of winged shoes that allow you to fly. It was really interesting to see what the others had thought of and to watch the pitches.
I really enjoyed the day – it was good fun.
